Joley Michaelson, Chief Executive Officer
Joley Michaelson is the Founder and CEO of The Sun Company, a clean energy firm developing next-generation power systems for sectors that can’t afford to go dark. As a senior executive at Tesla SolarCity, she led the national rollout of solar and storage across residential, commercial, and public markets. It was a front-row seat to one of the largest energy shifts in history, and it showed her how fast the world can change when the right technology meets the right moment.
In 2018, she launched The Sun Company to build the next generation of clean energy systems—engineered for high-demand users who require constant uptime, cost control, and real-world durability. Under her leadership, the company has secured over 20 patented technologies and is now developing decentralized power systems for various sectors, including cold storage, data centers, and AI infrastructure. The Sun Company is one of the first national renewable energy firms to be solely woman-owned.
In 2025, Joley will launch The BESSt Company, introducing a zinc polyiodide REDOX flow battery that closes the long-duration storage gap. Designed for rare-earth-free chemistry, the BESSt battery delivers unmatched runtime and energy density, unlocking the next phase of grid-optional infrastructure.
Joley’s leadership is grounded in her Bottom Line Plus™ model, a framework that aligns financial performance with long-term value for people, the environment, and communities. This values-driven model supports disciplined growth and strategic independence, enabling her to build companies that meet real demand and set new benchmarks for performance in critical sectors.
