Our Chemistry
A classical reduction/oxidation (REDOX) flow battery using a proprietary zinc polyiodide chemistry. The base technology was developed by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) with exclusive licensing to The BESSt Company.

Lifespan
Long cycle life with a more the 20-year life space for commercial and industrial (C&I) applications. Virtually unlimited life.
Safety
Our battery is non-toxic and non-flammable. It uses two earth abundant minerals, zinc and iodide.
Configuration
Our portfolio includes both membrane-based and membrane-less configuration. All of our designs are thoughtfully developed using the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) strategy, which uses modular designs and standardized components to simplify assembly, reduce costs, and ensure scalability.
Routine Maintenance
Unlike lithium-ion, routine maintenance (over decades) may be required for mechanical components like pumps and valves, rather than replacing the battery itself.
